Faux Marbre

Inspired by a collection of bookend papers found in his grandfather's belongings, Temo Callahan formed Studio Printworks featuring Faux Marbre, hand colored wallpaper in seven different tints. Also featured are wallpapers by other designers.

Pink

Some beautiful roses planted long ago
and still bringing beauty.
Pink is a color I cannot get away from.
I fled from pink to black over ten years ago,
but gradually, the black is mostly gone again
and pink is back (in my closet). One day,
I will have glorious pink
all through my home.

Dog Biscuits not made in China

Aunt Cleo's Pumpkin Dog Biscuits

Stop giving your dogs crap from China

 that could harm them!

Here is a Pumpkin Recipe that is healthy!

Cleo’s Pumpkin Dog Biscuits

2 eggs
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
2 tablespoons dry milk
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
2 1/2 cups brown rice flour *
1 teaspoon dried parsley (optional)

Preheat oven to 350.

In large bowl, whisk together eggs and pumpkin to smooth. Stir in dry milk, sea salt, and dried parsley (if using, optional). Add brown rice flour gradually, combining with spatula or hands to form a stiff, dry dough. Turn out onto lightly floured surface (can use the brown rice flour) and if dough is still rough, briefly knead and press to combine.

Roll dough between 1/4 – 1/2″ – depending on your dog’s chew preferences, – and use biscuit or other shape cutter to punch shapes, gathering and re-rolling scraps as you go. Place shapes on cookie sheet, no greasing or paper necessary. If desired, press fork pattern on biscuits before baking, a quick up-and-down movement with fork, lightly pressing down halfway through dough. Bake 20 minutes. Remove from oven and carefully turn biscuits over, then bake additional 20 minutes. Allow to cool completely on rack before feeding to dog.

* Brown rice flour gives the biscuits crunch and promotes better dog digestion. Many dogs have touchy stomachs or allergies, and do not, like many people I know, tolerate wheat.

Makes up to 75 small (1″) biscuits or 50 medium biscuits

Montgomery Pie

Montgomery pie

Bert Greene, cookbook author and longtime food columnist for The New York Daily News, was traveling home while in the service and happened to stay in a hotel in Montgomery, Ala., and dined in the hotel restaurant. He ordered a piece of pie and upon his return home, he tried to contact the cook to ask for the recipe, but never got a response. He called the hotel manager only to learn that the cook could not read or write, and there was no recipe. Greene returned to Montgomery and stood with the wonderful lady in her kitchen as she made the pie and recorded the recipe so that others could enjoy Montgomery pie.
2 eggs
1/4 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
2 teaspoons grated lemon rind
1/2 cup sugar
11/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup water
4 tablespoons soft butter
2/3 cup sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 cup milk
1 deep-dish pie crust
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat one egg with the lemon juice and rind, ½ cup sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, and 1 cup water. Beat until smooth and pour into unbaked pie shell.
Beat butter and one egg in a large bowl; add 2/3 cup sugar and baking powder; then alternatively add milk and 11/2 cups flour (about 1/3 each time). Beat until smooth, then spoon the mixture over the first layer of the pie.
Bake 35-40 minutes. Check with toothpick for doneness. Cool on a wire rack. Slice and enjoy. Be sure to spoon the lemon filling left in the pan over the top of the slice before serving.

A Great Room

Cannot get enough of this tasteful, John Hunt Fudge designed home in Huntsville, Alabama. I'm a sucker for a daybed just about anywhere, but in front of the fireplace
is one of the best placements.
Love the Oushak rug and leather wingbacks.
Asian accents are my latest obsession.

The paint treatment may be done to resemble plaster, or they may be the real thing. Why can't I find a house with recessed walls beside the fireplace to rent or buy?

Lovely sofa placement.

Love the bookshelves, the flooring, chaise and wall color.

This window treatment would be good for those windowless bathrooms that have those hideous large-scale mirrors over the tub.

Imagine hanging plantation shutters over them,
and wa la, a window where there is none.

These soaker tubs are
soooo much better
than the tacky
ja-kusies

that cannot be properly cleaned, imo.

Maple will grow in USDA zones 5-8, in other words,

no less than average annual low of -10 to 10 degrees F,

basically in areas that are not too cold and not too warm.

What a pop of vibrancy in the winter this would provide!
